how to dress well- & it was u
“Krell backs into the rhythm, staggered like a heartbeat, in the manner of an R&B singer, but the song opens up when the four-on-the-floor beat takes over. It’s the simplicity of it, the solidity, which frees movement in his vocal. He teases the beat and makes it clear it’s replaceable. “& It Was U” is irrepressible, the kind of song that makes you push your partner away on the dance floor so you have enough room to really move.” - frannie kelly, all songs considered
I myself was born with an enormous need for affection and a terrible need to give it. That’s what I’d like to think maybe has been the appeal. People have recognized something in me they have themselves — the need to receive affection and the need to give it. Does that sound soppy?

alunageorge- just a touch
love this beat and video. and her. and her moves. everything they do is just so good. really dig the brenmar remix on this too.i seriously spent an hour deciding which song i wanted to post, but went with this one because it’s more befitting of my current mood. i call mojave tent, coachella 2013.
i hope everyone has a happy 4-day (3?2?) weekend! may the bbq gods be in your favor.
lianne la havas- no room for doubt
(la blogotheque|take away show)
a friend of mine sent this album to my spotify inbox the other day, and immediately afterwards i began seeing her name on EVERY blog/twitter i follow. the hype is for good reason. the girl has a great voice and this album is quite nice for summer nights.
i also just saw that i shazam’ed this song last week (…and then a justin beiber song right after… i still have more cool points than lame right?). although la blogotheque sessions are alwaysalwaysalways great, i do rather prefer the album version of this track, that has the addition of male vocals from willy mason.
you may have noticed i actually wrote on this post instead of just posting a video. i’m going to try to do this more with my posts. i always feel like i have so much to say (about music, especially) but have no outlet for such things. so here you go, internet.
